Welcome to Natural Hazards in Switzerland!

The National Platform for Natural Hazards (PLANAT) is online: you can find fact sheets, images, videos, links and publications on our new website – a wide range of information on natural hazards is waiting for you.

This website is a platform for other organisations, too. The following organisations are involved thus far:

Natural hazards: we are not that helpless after all

The days of sectorial danger fighting are long gone. With the motto «from defending against danger to being aware of risks», PLANAT commits itself to a change of paradigms in handling natural hazards.

In future, safety planning must not be restricted to protect individual values from certain dangers within clearly delimited areas of responsibility. Instead of looking at flooding, rockfall, landslides or avalanches separately, all experts involved have to be aware of public protection interests both entirely and interdisciplinarily.
